Jane-Anne Burns

OWNER | PRINCIPAL PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Jane-Anne has 30 years of clinical experience, from her physiotherapy degree in Edinburgh, to work in Adelaide and finally settling in Grafton. Here, she set up her practice, 23 years ago with the aim of taking city levels of skills, service and excellence to regional Australia.

Jane-Anne has a special interest in complex shoulder injuries, cervicogenic headache and dizziness, lumbar spine, hips and women's and men's health. 

Her passion for physiotherapy and methodical examination to work out what's wrong, underpins her main goal - how to best fix or manage the problem to be your physical best.

Balla Traore

SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Balla a graduate of Otago Uni New Zealand, returned home to Seychelles to work extensively for Ministry of Health, ultimately as physiotherapist in charge at Anse Royale Physiotherapy Department. En-route to Grafton, Balla was the National Team Physio for Seychelles Football federation from January 2011 to August 2013, in their world cup campaign. 

Balla has completed his post-graduate Certificate in Spinal Manual Therapy and 1yr study in the biomechanics of running and lower limb injuries. In January 2020, he embarked on his MSK masters at La Trobe University in Melbourne. Studying and working full time in our busy practice is a testament to Balla's commitment to great physiotherapy.

 

With an eye for movement analysis and a keen eye on current evidence, Balla has an uncanny knack of joining the dots between great research and how to apply that for best results in clinic.

Andy McKenzie

SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Originally from Newcastle UK, Andy’s interest in anatomy and sports injuries was sparked by his first career as a personal trainer and natural level body builder.

In 2017 Andy went on to focus his passion for strength & conditioning and its injury management and preventative benefits in his physiotherapy degree at Carlise University in North Western England.

Strength & conditioning exercise to match and treatment pathology is Andy’s professional passion and along with the unique importance of first addressing pain and movement deficiencies with thorough hands on treatment.

Andy made the move to Grafton with the aim of embracing Australian Physiotherapy practice and life in this vibrant country town. Already a keen member and an advocate for our local gyms and fitness facility.

However, with permanent residency in his sights, Andy looks forward to welcoming his first Jacaranda festival and North Coast summer.

Lachlan Oberg

PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Lockie is a Grafton boy come home. Lockie delved into Biomedical Science before settling on Physiotherapy as his chosen career path. Lockie returns to Grafton from Uni in Newcastle and a job in private MSK practice in Nelson Bay. Whilst at university, Lockie had an internship with the Newcastle Knights rugby league Under 20’s team.

Lockie has won a place on our 2 year Graduate Training Program and joins us keen to take on the diverse case load we take on here at GP+S.

Lockie has been brilliant in helping meet patients needs and stepping in to help our busy practice, taking on his own Strength & Conditioning class where he works with patients to increase their strenghth and fitness post injury. Lockie’s pragmatic & thorough approach has already developed a loyal following and is a huge help.

 

Lockie is currently seeing general neck, spinal & joint problems but is keen to develop his professional interest in upper limb problems with further study in this area on the horizon. Lockie is happy to see patients with a variety of conditions.

Bree Whyte

PHYSIOTHERAPIST

After six years of study, our Grafton girl has come home. Bree is excited to come back to Grafton and start building her first house and new career as a physiotherapist. Winning a place in our industry leading Graduate Training Program, Bree is set to meet the challenge of our diverse case load and the demands of our busy clinical practice. 

Bree's first degree in Sport and Exercise Science dovetails beautifully with current physio practice in ensuring high level exercise rehab to ensure the problem is fixed and stays that way.

 

Bree's interest in fitness and wellbeing will benefit both our Pilates and Strength and Conditioning Program.

In a groundbreaking initiative, Bree will ensure physiotherapy service provision and an independent active life for the residents of Dougherty Villa, placing our world leading musculoskeletal training program alongside an aged care one.

With two degrees under her belt, Bree is no stranger to hard work and looks forward to going to work to best help meet the needs of our community.

Kylie Duff

ACCREDITED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST

Having initially completing a Bachelor’s of Exercise and Sport Science, and progressing to a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology, 6 years of university studies have developed Kylie’s knowledge on the importance of human movement as an integral part of health, along with managing chronic conditions such as Lower Back Pain, Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Cardiovascular Disease, neurological disease, mental health, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

 

Kylie has developed a keen interest in helping people to age-well, with the best Quality of life possible. This has seen her take on our current osteoarthritis classes and our newly added ‘Bone Strong’ specifically targeting those with Low bone mineral density, Osteopenia and Osteoporosis with much enthusiasm!

 

Growing up here in the Clarence Valley and being exposed to numerous sports, Kylie was fortunate enough to progress in her chosen sport of Rowing, representing QLD three times and in 2011 being selected on the Australian team. This exposure to elite sport and the knowledge she has gained from her studies on how exercise can help people with chronic health conditions has helped her to develop her personcentred care approach as an Exercise Physiologist, using evidence-based interventions to help manage chronic conditions for the community.

 

Kylie’s unique passion for sport and fitness complements her treatment, keeping you both mentally and physically strong to ensure you maintain an active lifestyle.

Briony Blake

ACCREDITED PRACTISING DIETITIAN

Briony has returned to Grafton after 10 years living and learning in Melbourne. First Completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, doing some travelling and then following it up with a Master's of Dietetic Practice. She has always LOVED food- shopping for it at farmers markets, preparing it for her friends and family and enjoying it at new cafes and restaurants so talking to people about food all day seemed like the perfect career choice!

Briony is a passionate problem solver, and likes to take this approach into her client consults, focusing on the WHY behind the WHAT of peoples behaviour and dietary pattens.

Briony is skilled in motivation interviewing, a nutrition counselling technique that helps clients overcome barriers and make long lasting health changes. She is comitted to working with her clients to achieve their goals and live long, happy and healthy lives!
